Welcome! Welcome to Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure! We invite you to tour Whether you are visiting Glacier Gardens as one of the thousands of cruise ship passenger from around the world, are on an adventurous Alaskan expedition, or are the local Juneau garden enthusiasts, Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure will be proud to show you the flourishing natural environment we live in. A large 18 passenger Tram can accommodate larger groups, and smaller 6 passenger carts cater to most independent travelers. The Rainforest The rainforest of Southeast Alaska Glacier Gardens limits its eco-footprint by letting the natural progression of life remain intact throughout the rainforest. Aside from the development of our pathways, the forest is left in its natural setting allowing visitors an up-close look at a northern temperate rainforest. Blueberry, Huckleberry, False Azaleas, Devils Club, and Elderberry border the pathways below the towering trees above. Tour Viewpoints At the 580 ft level of Thunder Mountain you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Juneau area including the Mendenhall Valley and Mendenhall Wetlands, Gastineau Channel, Douglas Island, and the pristine Chilkat Mountains in the distance. You will take a short walk along a cliff-side boardwalk with your guide who will direct your attention to the interesting aspects of your view and offer some additional information about the Juneau area. Watch as the eagles soar at eye level, or below and you get a different appreciation for just how enormous the rainforest is. After navigating the rainforest with your personal guide, you are met with spectacular views of the Mendenhall Valley at 580ft atop Thunder Mountain.
