Steve is putting the finishing touches on the Flower Towers and continues to plant the gardens as we start our summer. Today is our first official day of 2015 so come out for a rainforest tour and enjoy this fantastic weather!
Our favorite time in the gardens has begun as the rhododendron bloom is starting to pop with a colorful array of blossoms. Rhododendrons are temperate weather tolerant and value our mild climate here in Juneau. You will see them throughout town in residential yards and gardens, but the real display is found alongside our Flower Towers at the Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure. We have thousands upon thousands of blossoms splashing color throughout the gardens and the rhodies just add to the botanical excitement. These are a photographers dream come true and will be on display through June. Schedule your next visit or stop by any time to view this one-of-a-kind garden atmosphere only found in Juneau, Alaska.
Join Glacier Gardens on a journey through mystical Flower Tower gardens and into the Southeast Alaskan wilderness. Witness the inspiring beauty created from a storm damaged stream in one of Juneau’s most unique outdoor environments. In no other place will you find non-native landscaped gardens mesh so soundly with the natural habitat of the Tongass National Forest where you can view the stark contrast that our manicured gardens set against the natural forest backdrop.
Steve and Cindy Bowhay created the Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure through hard work, God’s grace, and with love and respect for the natural world. While some choose to create art by using canvas and paints, the Bowhay’s prefer to decoratively landscape a mountainside as an extension of their creative abilities. Steve has a favorite quote that is found within every book, How to Plant a Tree Upside-Down, that reads:
“A view is what you see with your eyes open, a vision you can see with your eyes closed.” – Steve Bowhay
